I drew this last year in a moment of inspiration. As you can tell, it was not really planned thoroughly. I was simply trying to draw a rough outline of a icon of the mother of God with a thick marker. But once that was in place (despite how rough and messy it was), I felt compelled to fill it in. first with a pencil, I shaded to bring out the form.
and after that was done, I wanted add some color and decorate our Lady. So I added an arch over the figure.
I like the way it turned out. Strangely, because of the informality, I felt more comfortable being bold with the colors and other artistic choices. I hope one day I make a proper icon dedicated to her.
